National service

It’s about a dedication to others. We all have responsibilities to society - locally, nationally, and globally. In the United States, there is a shortage of primary care providers and it’s expected to get worse. The communities hardest hit by this shortage are rural, lower-income, uninsured, and historically underserved. This is not a small portion of the population but rather, 57 million individuals living in 5,864 designated shortage areas.  For too long, medical education has largely been separated from the transformative work being done in smaller communities. By becoming an AmeriCorps member and MedServe Fellow, you can help meet local needs and make a REAL impact.

“what’s americorps?”

AmeriCorps is an opportunity for adults of all ages and backgrounds to serve their communities and their country through networks of partnerships with local and national nonprofit groups. As an AmeriCorps Program, MedServe helps Fellows demonstrate their desire to help others through a two-year, service-learning experience. This is hands-on!
