OIC Medical Center, Rocky Mt and Wilson
Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) Medical Center is a community health center with locations in Rocky Mount & Wilson, NC. It was established in the 1960s to address local systemic poverty & expanded into health services in recognition that you need a healthy workforce for a healthy local economy. Its unique origin makes OIC deeply embedded in its communities. In addition to its medical centers, OIC operates a mobile health clinic. It has been the recipient of multiple grants for its community work, including a HRSA ACA Grant for Quality Improvement.
OIC has long recognized the importance of addressing a person’s social, economic & personal situation as part of health. Currently, providers do that using basic health coaching. Med-Serve Fellows will assist as health coaches, allowing more senior caregivers to see other patients and providing the patient more time to talk about the many complex issues impacting their health.
