MedNorth Health Center, Wilmington
MedNorth Health Center strives to bring affordable and accessible healthcare in the form of primary care, behavioral health, pediatrics, pre-natal and gynecological care, pharmacy, and dentistry to the community of Wilmington. MedNorth helps make healthcare affordable for all by utilizing a sliding scale discount. The practice is not a free clinic, but it works with individuals as much as possible to insure they receive proper healthcare. The target population of MedNorth is individuals and families that fall at or below 200% of the federal poverty line.
The Fellow placed at MedNorth will focus on efforts to create community-oriented primary care. For a clinical role, the fellow will be a limited-scope medical assistant. This includes activities such as preparing the EMR for physicians, taking vitals, and coordinating referrals. If a Fellow speaks a second language, the Fellow may also take on an interpreter role in the clinic. The Fellow placed at MedNorth will be serving as a Community Health Worker for MedNorth's outreach programs. Also in the community role, the Fellow will be a QI Implementation Analyst working with the existing QI team.
