Celo Health Center and Bakersville Community Health is among a partnership with Spruce Pine, which is known as Mountain Community Health Partnership (MCHP). These locations are dedicated to offering exceptional care to our patients while striving for a healthier community. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for all residents in our communities by providing excellent primary healthcare services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center these sites are a resource for wellness, prevention and quality care. They provide primary care, pregnancy care, women’s health, pediatric care, and behavioral health at all of their offices. They also offer chiropractic services at our Bakersville and Celo offices. They’re committed to providing quality health care to patients in our service area, regardless of their ability to pay.
Celo Health Center will have their Fellow function as a medical scribe, health coach and program assistant for the Office-based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) for community members with opioid use disorder and seeking medication assisted treatment (MAT). This role is great for someone who wants clinical exposure, but is even more excited about community health work. Celo itself is a Quaker community.
Bakersville Health Center will have their Fellow function as a medical scribe and health coach for patients with chronic health concerns such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension and who could benefit from lifestyle modification. The Fellow will conduct farm worker health outreach worker and be a Spanish interpreter for seasonal migrant farm workers, Latinx communities in Mitchell and Yancey Counties. The goal of this position is to provide service to the local community and to set Fellows on a trajectory to a career of service in healthcare.
