Carrabus-Rowan Community Health's philosophy is "Your medical home, close to home."
The practice embodies this by providing preventative health services and health access to all members of their community, including the medically underserved. Carrabus-Rowan Community Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center, so they do operate with a sliding scale fee, as well as accepting insurance, medicare, and medicaid. The practice was also recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for their outstanding quality of care.
The Fellow placed here will focus on efforts to create community-oriented primary care. For a clinical role, the fellow will be a limited-scope medical assistant. This includes activities such as preparing the EMR for physicians, taking vitals, and coordinating referrals. In the community-facing role, the Fellow placed at Carrabus-Rowan Community Health will become a Health Coach. As a Health Coach, the Fellow will make lifestyle plans for patients, conduct behavioral health and substance abuse screenings, and help connect patients with local resources, among many other duties. The Fellow will also conduct Quality Improvement activities.
