Blue Ridge Health Services, Hendersonville and Columbus
Blue Ridge Health Services are Federally Qualified Health Centers that pride themselves in being healthcare built with the patient in mind. Under one roof, the practices provides family medicine, dentistry, pediatrics, pharmacy, and behavioral health. As FQHCs, these practice works with uninsured and underinsured patients. BRHS was established in 1963 with migrant farm workers in mind. The Hendersonville practice is the nation's oldest migrant worker clinic. Since 2009, Blue Ridge Health Services has been able to provide all of their current services to both migrant workers and the community as a whole. The practices are also unique in their School-Based Health Centers which provide students with comprehensive nursing, medical, behavioral health, and nutrition.
The Fellow at Blue Ridge Health Services in Hendersonville will join the team to promote community-based primary care as a medical interpreter and a community health worker for migrant farm workers. In the community role, the health worker will be conducting screenings and health education for diseases like diabetes, STDs, and depression.
The Fellow at Blue Ridge Health Services in Columbus will be a medical scribe and a community health worker. The community health worker will do case management for a prenatal and perinatal substance abuse support group.
