Asheville Integrative Medicine
Integrative Family Medicine of Asheville was founded in 2012 to best meet the needs of the local Asheville community. Drs. Lewis and Krisel hope that together they will demonstrate a model of sustainable, empowering healthcare for other communities to replicate or expand.
IFMA operates as a holistic Direct Primary Care clinic, in which patients pay per visit or a monthly membership fee that covers acute and chronic disease management services. Care plans focus on nutrition and wellness to address chronic medical conditions, including prioritizing exercise and dietary counseling within an office visit. IFMA has won multiple awards from Best of WNC, including 1st place in 2015 for “Business that Improves WNC the Most”, “Innovative Business”, “Place to Get Medical Care When Under – Or Uninsured”, “Best Physician”, “Business that Gives Back to the Community”, and “Sustainability-Promoting Business”.
Integrative Family Medicine seeks to provide healthcare at an accessible price for all. In order to do this, practices must have lower fixed costs; staff members are asked to serve in a variety of different patient care roles. A Med-Serve Fellow would serve as a Patient Care Coordinator, completing any necessary jobs to ensure patients are seen and assisted in a timely manner. This includes serving patients at check-in, taking a basic history, running labs, and serving as a Health Coach.
